Some reflections on our school by senior students.

We are a small, friendly school, more like a family.
We can get to know each other really well and know everyone’s name. We say hello to others.
Jesus calls each of us by name.

It’s good when our whole school community comes together for different events. Parents and our priests are great at joining in our fun times.
We are encouraged to learn and play with each other … not just our friends. When we get to know others we see their talents and we are able to use ours too.
Jesus calls each one of us to use our God given talents for the good of others.

We have people from many different countries in our school working as one. We celebrate the differences in each of us and learn more about other countries and traditions.
Jesus told the disciples to go out into every country to spread the “Good News”. We celebrate our heritage.

We take time to think and talk about our Spiritual lives. Sometimes this is in our own classes. For important times in our church we come together as a school to pray, go to Mass or have a liturgy. We are lucky because we are the only school on the coast able to do this because we are a Catholic school.
Jesus often asked his friends to think about what was happening around them. He taught them by helping them to reflect on their lives.
In the senior school we are called on to develop our sense of responsibility. We do duties like road patrol and playground duty to help others.
Jesus reminds us all that we have to look after all of the members of our community.

We are like one big family… big buddies look after little buddies. We get to know others and don’t feel scared in our school. We learn about being a good buddy as we go. We welcome little buddies into the school and they say goodbye to us when we leave.
Jesus welcomed everyone to come to him. He made sure the people weren’t bullied by the important leaders.
When we go out on trips we can do so with our parents to support us. This means it costs us less and we have lots of extra opportunities. We get to do sports, visits to places, walks to places near us and best of all we go to different camps.
The seniors go to the college for technology. This helps us to extend our learning opportunities and we will know our way around the college if we later go to Paraparaumu College.
We celebrate together with shared meals.
Jesus liked to eat with his friends… some big meals with 5,000 people and other smaller occasions when he ate with Martha and Mary.
